What you need:

Pine cones

Peanut Butter

Spatulas

Bowl

Bird Seed

Ribbon/Twine

It’s okay to get messy!

Tie a string of ribbon around pine cone making sure it is tightened. Place bird seed in a bowl. Next, take a spatula and scoop up peanut butter. Spread peanut butter liberally over pine cone. Finally, place peanut-buttered-up pine cone in bowl with bird seed, and make sure all of the sides are fully covered. Take it outside with the kids and hang them up on a tree.

At school, they did a unit on bears.

Since bears go to sleep in winter, Tien’s teacher had the children wear their pajamas, bring in their bears and read to them a good night story in preparation for hibernation. Isn’t that cute?

I do have to say that I am pretty amazed at how well my son has progressed from no training wheels to him now popping wheelies. We were bicycling yesterday, and all of a sudden he pulls up on his bike and WHAM! there goes a wheelie. He rode all over the pavement doing wheelies. I wish I had some pictures of him doing them. Tien thinks this picture above is pretty cool. He exclaims he is in Motorcross when he pops his wheelies.

I thought the barrage would never come, but the questions upon questions has. Instead of my son having the, “why, Mommy,” he is asking some pretty serious questions to what’s happening next questions.

I am clearly frustrated at this moment by the what’s happening next questions. Maybe I need a better attitude adjustment because Tien’s questions are his needs to know about the world around him. Can’t hate on questions like that, huh? BUT! I still deel frustrated.  At times I just want to tell him, “Stop asking me the same questions over and over.” Actually you’d probably hear me saying it on occassion.

Tien has a need to know about what happens when he wakes up, what is going to happen from moment to moment. I wanted to teach him to enjoy the moment we are in so he can appreciate the here and now not worry about the next moment. Maybe my son is a creature of habit. I am, too.

Sorry for my rant. I’m jumping off my soapbox and ducking my head.

Tien New Years 2008

When I think of the year behind Tien and me, I think of a year filled with a new hope, free of hurt, and us taking a direction God lead us in. It pains my heart to think of what Tien had to experience. I won’t go into too much detail. Just, Tien is a loving little boy who just loves and needs a Mommy who gives him the love and encouragement to be the independent little thinker he is.

I love you Tien-Tien with all of my heart and soul. May this New Year bring you a sense of happiness in knowing I am there for you, and that Mommy has followed God’s leading in paving a new pathway for the both of us.
